Hidden Gem (by Morgan J.)
Never had I thought I'd want to go to Northern Idaho, let alone Idaho in general. I found this place completely by accident and am so glad I did. I had managed a surprise trip for my husband as a getaway for us -- without our children for once -- and the Garden of Eagen could not have been a better place to do this. I'll admit that I was a little anxious about arrival. We were in a place I never thought I'd want to go, in the middle of nowhere, and this was my first experience with a VRBO property. I could not be more happy with this choice. Jeanelle was always prompt and thorough in responding to my emails in the months prior to arrival, and was accommodating the whole trip, without being intrusive. The listing description is a little misleading --- it's actually WAY BETTER than the pictures let on. This place is not a home you stay in, but an experience you feel. I have sung the praises of the property and the service provided by Jack and Jeanelle to every person I have come in contact with in the week since our return. My husband has bragged to his doctor at appointments, gas station attendants, and every person in between. Honestly, I thought we would do more around town, but we didn't want to leave the home. We did make an afternoon ride into Montana one day (such an easy, beautiful drive). We also took advantage of the Sandpoint Seaplane and rode over the Cabinet mountains and Lake Pend Oreille to witness the spectacular scenery from an aerial perspective -- absolutely breathtaking. There are a few other properties nearby, but we never saw or heard a single other person on the mountain and, though there was some traffic on the road below, it wasn't really noticeable over the sounds of nature. The train track was somewhere even further below (I never saw it), but thought the occasional sound of a train passing by was charming. Jeanelle and Jack have done an incredible job stocking this home with everything you could need while experiencing the Garden of Eagen, and the home was clean, neat, an incredible attention to detail, and has the perfect floor plan - truly something for everyone. Although the trip from Nashville, TN is a LONG way, it was so worth it to experience each other, nature, and the tranquility of this home. I am so glad we found this place and we will be back! The Perfect Surprise (by Craig D.)
I wanted to surprise my girlfriend with a trip somewhere away from it all, somewhere with great a view, while being private, quiet and relaxing. This is it, we were both so happy with this house, everything about it was done to enjoy just being here and being together. We were lucky enough to spend a week here and loved it. All of the the reviews are spot on, views that amaze you all day every day. We are in our 40's and this was our first time trying VRBO. The owners of this place are fantastic, they really care and that made our stay extra special. I can't say enough good things about them or this home, we will be back. Thank you for making my surprise a big hit, it was perfect. About the trains, we loved them, we both have fond childhood memories of the sounds of an occasional passing train and the tressel across the slough, had to have pictures of that.
Owner's Response: Thank you for your gracious remarks. It made our tails wag with joy! We look forward to your return.

Amazing corner of the world (by Ben O.)
What an amazing experience! From the moment we walked through the door and looked out over the pristine lake view, I felt the worry and stress of the world melt away. I surprised my girlfriend with this weekend getaway, and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. The house is perched alongside Eagen Mountain, just 15 minutes or so from Sandpoint, and five minutes to Hope. The deck features an expansive view of Lake Pend Oreille, with views of Schweitzer Mountain in the background (fun to see it lit up for night skiing while we sat cozy in the hot tub). Everything was clean and neat, and the floor plan of the home is wonderful. It's very open and inviting, but each area of the home carries its own features. Want to sit by a fireplace and read? Try the living room. Want to watch a movie by yet another fireplace? Try to family room. One of my favorite amenities was the bed perched before a set of picture windows. It's like sleeping outside without the cold. We were blessed with two sunny days and one rainy day during our stay, and each were really fun to deal with (sitting on the bed watching the rain clouds travel across the lake is very cathartic!). Jeanelle and Jack (the owners) were so easy to deal with. Jeanelle gave us a virtual tour over the phone when we arrived. She has thought of everything. The kitchen was full stocked with pans, flatware, and cooking supplies. She even had a dozen farm fresh eggs waiting for us. The only thing to bring is fresh food. The breakfast bar is a great place to eat and also my girlfriend and I used it to play music (we're in a band) and work on songs. There is a hiking trail just up the road (not the highway, but Eagen Mountain Road) that gave us our exercise for the day. If you need something quick, Hope and Clark Fork have a couple of spots to purchase food. If you need to head into Sandpoint, also, it's a quick 15 minutes. Ice House pizza was great, as always, and there are a bunch of other fun hikes around Hope (but it's hard to leave the property… seriously one of the most peaceful weekends of our lives). Overall, I was so happy with my stay here and so was my girlfriend. We will be back. We're already talking about what time of year we want to stay. Kudos to Jack and Jeanelle for the great job they did with this place. It's worth it 100%. I would recommend this to everyone looking for a great lover's retreat.

WOW! (by Ginny H.)
What a delicious, magical and rich stay stay we had. We are so deeply touched by your sharing of your beautiful and incredible home! During our stay we were able to go deep within to discover and uncover meaningful messages and information about our year to come. It's truly amazing to be in stillness and harmony with nature, that rises with you every morning, and gives you that nourishing start throughout your day, and keeps you at night while you rest. We will never forget our first anniversary. We thank you from all realms of our being. You are a special woman and we see your light! Much love and abundant luminous blessings for you and your beloved Jack! With gratitude and open rest hearts. Gaia an Shannon

A relaxing escape (by Travis B.)
My girlfriend and I were taking a long Valentine's day weekend for some relaxation away from the city and some skiing up at Schweitzer. Other reviewers are correct when they claim that the photos do not do the actual experience justice. First, Jeanelle is an extremely gracious host. From the local Laughing Dog Brewery growler of beer awaiting us upon our arrival, to the thorough walk through over the phone to ensure we knew where to find everything, you can tell she genuinely and authentically loves for visitors to experience the peace and quiet their lake home affords. Take in the beautiful, sweeping views of Lake Pend Oreille from your bedroom. You won't want to leave. The house is well appointed with all the cooking equipment you'd possibly need, along with basic essentials, spices, etc. This isn't just a rental property - you are truly living in Jeanelle's other home for your stay, and it feels warm, loved and lived in. You're only a 15 minute drive or so from Sandpoint, or about 30 minutes from the mountain if you're there for skiing. Outdoor adventure options abound in the area, if you can pull yourself away from the cozy warmth of the fire. We will definitely be back for another visit down the road!

Holy Moly (by susanne w.)
I wish we could rate it for more than 5 stars. My husband and I had the most amazing time. The place is drop dead gorgeous! The home is one of the nicest, most thought out places I have been. And the view is just breathtaking. Floor to ceiling windows of "oh my gosh!". In a world where we are always on the move, this is a place that slows you down without even a hesitation. We were in relaxation heaven, with nothing to do but enjoy each other. Everything we needed was there. Even things we didn't know we needed we there. What a luxury! It was like being on a honeymoon all over again. And watching eagles flying around from the hot tub with a glass of wine? PRICELESS. Winter here was quiet and beautiful, thought provoking and romantic. We highly recommend this place to anyone considering it! We will be back again.

Serenity  (by JB)
From the moment we walked through the front door we were in awe. Our stay was personalized by a virtual walk through with the owner. Which made us feel more at home. The furnishings were warm and comfy even in the middle of winter. The two fireplaces added to the whole ambience of the great lighting in each room. The bed was super comfortable which was great as we found ourselves spending a lot of time in it while watching the spectacular views from sunrise to sunset. Truly an incredible home that inspired romance and relaxation. We will definitely be visiting again. Thank You

Winter Wonderland (by Rachel H.)
This is a fantastic place to relax! You wake up every morning staring at the beautiful lake. The house is very warm and comforting, with a fantastic kitchen full of almost everything. The ground was covered in snow while we were there, it made it a perfect winter wonderland. As far as vacation rentals go this has been one of the best. With owners who make sure the house is perfect when you arrive.

There is a reason why this property has all 5 star ratings. It's just that good. The views are wonderful. The home was extremely clean and welcoming. It was quiet, private, and romantic. We had everything we needed and wanted and more. Everything was just perfect for us. The owners gave us a quick rundown of the house over the phone which was great. There was a bottle of wine and farm fresh eggs waiting for us when we arrived. We will certainly be back!
